Bachelor of Science in Applied Studies - Online

The program is especially suited for students who have a career and need a bachelor's degree to excel in their career. The interdisciplinary curriculum is particularly suited for individuals with backgrounds or degrees in technical fields for which there is no apparent bachelors program into which they may readily transfer and pursue upper division coursework.

The degree completion program contains a wide spectrum of management and liberal arts courses that will help you become a leader in your profession and advance in your career.

What Students Learn in the B.S. Applied Studies Program:

  • How to apply concepts from management, social science, and liberal arts to workplace situations.
  • How the skills of critical thinking, problem solving, and clear communication are applied in professional settings and everyday endeavors.

Upon completion of the major, students will be able to:

  • Apply Organizational Leadership ideas to real-world concepts, as well as to theoretical and practical problems related to an occupation (Critical Thinking)
  • Demonstrate understanding of occupational leadership skills in exams, in course papers,through group discussions, and in final projects (Disciplinary Proficiency)
  • Organize and explain ideas and solve problems using conventions of academic and professional writing (Writing Skills)
  • Design a professional development plan for a future career which may include changes incareers or objectives (Career Planning)
  • Demonstrate integration of technical, management, and liberal arts knowledge and skills in the current work settings (Integration and Synthesis)
  • Locate and identify high-quality and valuable information sources related to issues inproblems in the field, as well as evaluate information with respect to its relevance and credibility (Information Literacy)
