The Bachelor of Science in Health Science in Professional Development and Advanced Patient Care is a degree program in the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions designed for healthcare providers who work directly with patient populations. The bachelors in health science program was designed for EMT’s, respiratory therapists, radiology technicians, lab technicians, phlebotomists, diagnostic technicians, physical therapy assistants and other healthcare professionals who have graduated from an accredited certificate or associate degree program. Surgical technologists, pharmacy technicians, dispensing opticians, dental assistants, nuclear medicine technologists, medical records technicians and homecare aides may also be eligible for this degree.
The coursework in this Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree program can help you stay current in your profession and move up in responsibility, as well as serve as a stepping stone to a master’s program in healthcare administration or public health. While students at GCU are encouraged to consider a Christian worldview in their studies, you will explore spirituality and cultural diversity in healing and caregiving and how recognizing differences can be important in delivering healthcare. There is also a focus on effective professional communication, critical thinking and ethical decision-making. At the end of the BS in health sciences program, you will have an opportunity to identify and research a topic which is important to you and your professional development and can be immediately applied to your work in the capstone course.
