Diploma in Early Childhood Development
The Diploma in Early Childhood Development was instituted on March 25, 1995, and is a one-year post baccalaureate course for practicing or would-be preschool teachers or administrators with minimal or no formal training in early childhood education. The program was instituted to respond to the growing need for teacher training in preschool education. One of the highlights of the program is a 3-unit practicum course at the department’s laboratory preschool, the U.P. Child Development Center. The practicum course provides the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in their classes and obtain hands-on experience working with children for one semester.
