Bachelor of Science in Home Economics
The BS Home Economics is a four-year degree program which provides a broad foundation in general home economics. It emphasizes the integration of knowledge from the different areas of home economics, namely: clothing and related arts, food preparation and service, food science and technology and nutrition. The curriculum is bolstered by these integrative courses: home economics and consumer education, household resource management, entrepreneurship and research. Exciting opportunities and challenges await the BSHE graduate in both private and government service. Graduates are adequately prepared for teaching positions in the elementary, secondary, tertiary, as well as non-formal and vocational levels. Over the years, the program has maintained a 100\\% passing rate in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Extension and community work in the government or NGOs is also an option. Likewise, graduates become trainers, researchers, writers and developers of adult and out-of-school youth programs. BSHE graduates may opt to set up a business or work in food service institutions. Others have made a success of their careers as teachers (elementary, high school, college and pre-school), program heads of educational institutions, chefs and foodservice managers, consumer and marketing researchers, trainors, consultants and entrepreneurs.
