Health Care Aides provide personal assistance and support services for people who require short and long-term care. CDI College trains and prepares students on how to work with clients who have complex medical conditions such as chronic medical conditions, physical or cognitive disabilities, functional deficits that interfere with day-to-day activities, and end-of-life care. In this program, students will also be trained in WHIMIS; client safety; self care and safety; medication delivery; positioning transfers and lifts; and more. Health care aides interact directly with the client, providing them with physical assistance as well as the emotional and psychological support to help them get through the difficult time.
Graduates from CDI College's Health Care Aide diploma program can seek employment opportunities in areas such as hospitals, home care, public or private agencies, social service departments and agencies, and continuing care facilities. Aside from the Health Care Aide diploma, students will also receive the following certifications upon graduation: Health Care Aide Government of Alberta Provincial Curriculum Certificate, Standard First Aid Certificate, and CPR "C" Certificate.
