The MSM program enables graduates to foster innovation, effectively collaborate, and assume leadership roles within diverse Sports organizations. It is designed for students, business people, sports professionals, and others interested in moving ahead in their careers, or moving into new professions, or starting and managing their own Sports Clubs. Since some classes are offered in the evenings and weekends, the program is becoming ideal for those who travel, juggle job with home responsibilities, or have difficulty leaving work to attend classes.

The proposed MSM program is flexible enough to accommodate both full-time and part-time students who have various interests. Through elective courses students are able to steer the curriculum to reflect their own directions. MSM candidates interested in pursuing full-time program can complete the degree in 12 months by taking four courses (12 credit hours) per semester. MSM classes are offered during the evening hours and weekends. Those interested in part-time study can complete the degree requirements within three years by attending, at least two courses per semester.

MSM classes are offered in 16-week terms whereby classes meet thrice a week from Sunday through Saturday; Weekend classes will meet once on Fridays and Saturdays.

Master of Sports Management is a post-graduate program offered to prepare students for careers as administrators and managers in athletic and sport clubs. Also, the program prepares them for advanced level management positions in professional athletic organizations. With this backdrop, the program aims at preparing them to:

AUE as a pioneer in the field (in this region), the program offers a wide range of activities to professionalize the program to meet the current and future demand for the professional managers and administrators in this area

Bridging Program (7 Courses/14 credits)

To enable the students to successfully complete the MSM program, students whose university degree is not in business are required to take certain courses. Students whose university degree did not include a course in Research Methodology whether their university degree is in business or not should have a foundation course in Research methodology to enhance their research abilities and enable them to do their thesis. The said courses are classified as “Bridging  Courses” as stipulated in the following list. All foundation courses are 2 credit hours each. The foundation courses are waived if a non-business background student has studied them at licensed institutions offering accredited academic programs.

Students opting for the thesis should have completed Research methodology in the earlier studies or should take the Bridging course (RMT 500 – Research Methodology).

Upon attending 5 core courses and passing them successfully (AGPA 3.0), MSM students are allowed to submit their thesis plan to the MSM Coordinator. During summer time, the MSM coordinator in coordination with the Dean of COBA, the thesis topics will be approved and the supervisors will be assigned for each student. This policy will allow the students to start writing their thesis in advance and hence their graduation can be achieved successfully by the end of the third semester.

MSM students who are not interested in conducting a thesis, are entitled to choose additional two elective course in lieu of the thesis.

Students opting for the thesis should have completed Research methodology in the earlier studies or should take the “Market Research for Sport” course (MSM 612).
