| The Study Abroad – India Semester Program is conducted by the American University of India (AUI) – Kodai International Business School (KIBS) all the year round at Kodaikanal hill station, India (popularly known as Switzerland of the East).
This program offers students from abroad the opportunity to live and study in India and learn about the Indian Culture, Heritage, Social, Cultural, Demographic and Economic dimensions of India, Indian History, Architectural Heritage, Linguistics, Arts, Music, Dance etc. A visit to South Indian temples, architectural monuments, and historical towns is included. A tour to the Business houses in India (optional) is also an extended part and parcel of the program for Business Management students.

It is a country of amazing paradoxes, where bullock carts and jets co-exist in perfect harmony. Modern India is a shining example of robust economic growth in a democratic setting.
Study Abroad Offerings: (These programs are offered throughout the year and will also include an element of practical learning)
1. Two (2) week Introduction to India Program - This program will give an insight to Indian Culture and Heritage, Social, Cultural, Demographic and Economic dimensions, Indian History, Music & Dance.
2. One (1) month India Program – This program will include Indian Culture and Heritage, Social, Cultural, Demographic and Economic dimensions, Indian History, Architectural Heritage, Linguistics, Arts, Music, Dance, and Ghandian Studies. A two (2) day visit to a historical town is included.
3. Three (3) month India Semester Program - This program will include Indian Culture and heritage, Social, Cultural, Demographic and Economic dimensions, History, Architectural Heritage, Linguistics, Music, Dance, Bio Diversity, Environment Sustainability, Conservation, Organic farming Micro Financing & NGO’s, Tribal Welfare
Gandhian Thought, Rural Development, Doing business in India and Project work. A one (1) week visit to historical towns is included.
4. Three (3) month doing Business in India Program - Students will gain knowledge on the dimensions of doing business in India, Business Entry options, Rules and Regulations, Cultural, Historical & Socio-Economic understanding of doing business, Visit to an Indian Industry, Experience of Indian business leaders, Indian Business & leadership models and Project work. A one (1) week visit to Business houses in an Indian city is included.
5. Six Month (6) month India Semester Program - This program will include Indian Culture and heritage, Social, Cultural, Demographic and Economic dimensions, History, Architectural Heritage, Linguistics, Music, Dance, Bio Diversity, Environment Sustainability, Conservation, Organic farming Micro Financing & NGO’s, Tribal Welfare
Gandhian Thought, Rural Development, Doing business in India and Project work. Opportunities to live with an Indian family for a period of 1 month will also be provided. A one (1) week visit to historical town and a one (1 ) week trip to a metropolitan city will also be arranged.

Whether faculty / staff can accompany?
For every 10 students attending the program one (1) faculty member will be hosted free (food, accommodation only). In addition if more number of faculty or staff would like to accompany the students they can be accommodated on chargeable basis. This offer is applicable for programs which extend for a period of 1 month and above only.

About Kodaikanal hill station
Kodaikanal hill station is the Princess of hill stations in India (popularly known as Switzerland of the East), and conjures images of breathtaking views, dense slopes, scenic hinterland, waterfalls, luscious green plains and valleys, wooded hills, and pleasant climate. Meadows and grasslands cover the hillsides. Gigantic Eucalyptus trees and shola forests flourish in the valleys. Mighty rocks and gushing streams, rise up from the valleys. There are many high waterfalls and ubiquitous gardens and flower beds in bloom.
Kodaikanal climate is very pleasant with maximum summer temperatures reaching 20°Celsius (68°Fahrenheit) and the minimum in winter touching about 8 °Celsius (46°Fahrenheit).
Facilities / services offered
Lodging: Accommodation in dorms will be arranged for all students. The quality will be of high standard. If students are particularly interested in staying with a host family in India this will also be arranged.
Boarding: Wholesome Indian and continental food will be provided.
Laundry Services: Laundry services are also provided. Students can pay a nominal charge and avail this service.
Telephone: Telephone in the place of stay with ISD connection will be made available. Students can pay and use these services.
Hospital: At the first indication of any sickness students will be taken to the local private hospital.
Site seeing trips: Site seeing trips will be arranged during weekends or holidays. Students can pay the actual expenses and avail this service.
Outdoor activities: Outdoor activities for students include Cottage Industry visit, Strategic Team games / Management games, Campfire, Music, Drama, Dance, Trekking, Cycling / Rowing / Bison sighting / Wilderness and nature etc.
Program Coordinator: A Program Coordinator will be assigned to the students throughout their stay in Kodaikanal hill station.
Travel Assistance: American University of India (AUI) will provide recommended travel itineraries and related advisory services on logistics and travel. AUI Staff will meet students at the Madurai airport and accompany them to Kodaikanal if the size of the group is 5 or more. Early departures from the program are not entertained. Fee once paid is not refundable.
Visa Assistance: A letter for visa applications will be provided by American University of India (AUI) upon acceptance into the India Semester Program.
24/7 Emergency Assistance : Our College staff is available 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency.
Program Fee
The program fee payable includes pre departure online orientation, induction upon arriving at the Indian campus, teaching, academic interaction, training, accommodation, board of three meals each day, internet access, Student ID card and a participation certificate. As an introductory offer, we are pleased to offer a 10% discount on our rates
Participants are responsible for transportation costs from their home country to our campus at Kodaikanal hill station, India.
Local transportation in India will be provided at a subsidized cost. Visa assistance will also be provided.
The course content and program can be modified and customized according to your requirements. The dates are flexible and can be conducted as per your convenience.
