With a PhD
at University College Cork (UCC)
a Bachelor of Science is as varied as the discipline itself. You may study the traditional natural sciences and become a Bachelor of Biology/Physics/Applied Mathematics etc. However the range has extended greatly in the past decades and there are now opportunites to become a Bachelor of Environmental Science, for example, which incorporates the areas of geography, environmental science, chemistry, biology, earth science, and physics, and may also include the study of maths and statistics to understand measurements and data. You may even incorporate a year of law in order to have an understanding of, say, environmental protection.
phd students: The world of science, along with the traditional disciplines such as Physics and Biology for example, has broadened significantly in the last 2 decades or so. This is reflected in PhD programs as well, and one such new and exciting discipline is Neuroscience.
You may have opted for a graduate program in Neuroscience which will have provided you with an intensive, multi-disciplinary education in neuroscience. You will have received instruction regarding molecular, cellular, systems, cognitive, and translational neuroscience, and diseases of the nervous system. You will have required the skills essential for a successful and fruitful career in Neuroscience.
