Convey Ideas Using Visual Media
APU's Bachelor of Art in Graphic Design trains students to use signs and symbols to convey an idea or concept through innovative thinking. The degree provides a solid foundation in the formal principles of design, aesthetics and craftsmanship, traditional skills (such as hand lettering and drawing), and sophisticated graphics software. Graphic design majors explore the principles of graphic design within traditional linear print media, Web design, and motion graphics and time-based media.
Throughout the program, students learn how to develop design solutions using a wide range of media, including poster, book, and magazine layouts, Web design and interactive communication, and the creation of graphic identities and branding. Students will work on projects that promote humanitarian organizations, confront social issues, and encourage responsible interaction with life’s challenges. Graphic design majors leave APU prepared to create artwork that communicates effectively and meets client and customer needs.
