M.A.Ed. in Learning and Technology and Mild/Moderate Disabilities Education Specialist Credential

Advance Instructional Design in Your Classroom with a Learning and Technology Degree

The Master of Arts in Education: Learning and Technology focuses on foundational tools teachers need to design and implement instructional experiences that integrate technology throughout the curriculum. Coursework covers how to effectively design and infuse technology-embedded curriculum for today’s digital learner and special needs students. Graduates gain essential skills and knowledge in a variety of areas, including instructional video, web tools for enhanced interactive learning, digital communications, and emerging trends in the field. Special topics courses draw on trending practices within school districts and provide an opportunity for candidates to explore their core interests.

The combined master’s degree and credential program empowers candidates to enhance learning through technology in the special needs classroom and delves into instructional strategy, behavioral support, intervention, and assessment for students with mild/moderate disabilities.

Coursework for the master’s degree component, including the emphasis in learning and technology, is fully online, while the credential coursework is completed on campus. Each course provides hands-on instruction, giving candidates the time and training needed to develop subject-specific skills and activities. Candidates demonstrate their understanding of technology-imbedded instruction in the capstone project.

This combined program pairs the Mild/Moderate Disabilities Education Specialist Credential with an innovative master’s degree, resulting in a graduate program designed to meet the needs of the 21st-century classroom while advancing educators’ careers.

Nine units from the Learning and Technology, M.A.Ed., program may be transferred into APU’s Online M.A. in Educational Technology for teachers seeking to deepen their calling in the field by becoming educational technology leaders.
