Bachelor of Advanced study
The Bachelor of Advanced study is an individually tailored, research-based undergraduate degree. This is a unique award that someone can pursue in any discipline. It usually involves considerable research effort, either through a thesis or supervised research projects. It is considered a TopUp award which is equivalent to the standard Bachelor’s degree, based on the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) as well as the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) – Level 6.
It is required for the student to work independently in order to acquire valuable skills, whatever the subsequent career direction. The student determines the area of study and programme of work with the supervisor and is provided with appropriate research training to enable him/her to complete the programme of study. This will culminate in the preparation of a thesis which is submitted for assessment by internal and external examiners, together with an oral examination.
In order to receive the Bachelor of Advanced study degree, one must fulfil the requirements (general education and two years of undergraduate study from any recognised academic institution worldwide.
