Medical Assisting
At Career College of Northern Nevada, you’ll receive the in-depth, hands-on training you need to succeed in the medical assisting field. Medical assistants work closely with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals in both clinical and clerical roles, aiding in medical procedures and examinations, as well as performing medical office tasks as needed. Throughout the medical assisting program, you will benefit from real-world clinical experience by completing 160 hours in a medical assisting externship. Our medical assisting faculty will guide you in learning the primary duties of professional medical assistants, which include:
- Taking patient history and measuring vital signs
- Helping physicians and nurses with patient examinations
- Giving patients injections as directed by the physician
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Preparing blood for laboratory tests
