BA (Hons)
Public Relations and Marketing
Formerly known as Public Relations and Digital Communications Management.
Developed in co-operation with practitioners from the communications industry, who also contribute as guest lecturers, this course combines public relations (PR) and marketing theory and practice. You will develop an understanding of how different organisations use PR to manage their brand and build relationships with stakeholders. You will also develop management skills as you learn about campaign planning, strategy development and specialist PR areas, such as crisis management and lobbying. You will explore the growing importance of social media and the use of viral campaigns, learning how to use YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, mobile and email communications to best effect. Print, broadcast and niche media are examined to help you design campaigns that can reach a wide range of audiences. Our experienced staff will show you how to identify stories, generate content and develop PR campaigns that make the best use of different media. Interactive assignments enable you to develop your writing, marketing and media skills and develop transferable skills in teamwork. We also offer four year routes where you can spend your third year on an industrial placement or studying abroad.
