CIVIL ENGINEERING DEGREE – PROGRAMMES OF STUDY
Civil Engineering is the professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and built environment necessary for the benefit and welfare of our society. It is concerned with such works as buildings, roads, railways, bridges, dams, reservoirs, tunnels, waterways, underground and super structures & ports & off-shore structures.
The SLIIT civil engineering degree in Sri Lanka is an excellent blend of scientific and civil engineering fundamentals and the practical skills essential to begin effective professional practice on graduation. The first two years of the programme are primarily concerned with developing a foundation in mathematics, science, basic engineering sciences, and practical skills essential to pursue studies in the field of civil engineering. The third year includes applied engineering units in structural analysis and design, materials, geotechnical engineering, construction engineering, hydraulics and professional practice. The final year covers subjects relating to construction management, industrial relations, contract law, cost estimation and finance.
