PH.D./ED.D.
Ed.D in Educational Studies
Welcome. Our Ph.D. and Ed.D. in Educational Studies degree programs have been empowering and mentoring theologically-oriented educational leaders since 1986. Over these 30 years, we have been blessed with a wonderful diversity of doctoral participants in which we see generally equal percentages of men and women, as well as U.S. and international citizens (mostly from Asia, Africa and Latin/South America). That's a rich global learning setting for us all. If you participate in our doctoral program, you join a network of alumni and current students serving in 26 of the United States and territories, and in 19 countries within 5 continents around the world.
We value an informed Christian worldview about the education of persons in relation to the teaching-learning-mentoring process. The integration of faith and learning is emphasized within the coursework phase and during dissertation study. Each doctoral participant devotes one dissertation chapter, supervised by a theology professor, to articulate the integration of a social science concept within a distinctly Christian perspective. Besides having regional WASC accreditation, our Ph.D. and Ed.D. programs are accredited by ATS—the Association of Theological Schools—the primary accrediting body for seminaries in the United States. In 2002, our doctoral program launched the first hybrid-distance Ph.D. program approved by ATS.
