The Master of Teaching (MTeach) degree will provide prospective educators with the necessary professional qualification for entry into the teaching profession. Drawing on the disciplinary knowledge and critical analytic skills of its graduate students, the MTeach degree prepares graduates to make a real difference in the classroom. With a deep understanding of what and how students learn, and confidence to innovate, teacher graduates will be ready to take the first step on a rewarding career path.
Key Features
- Integration of the disciplinary knowledge of graduate entry candidates with Master’s level study of educational theory, research and practice (for example case – based instruction, lesson study, problem based and inquiry learning, action learning and research)
- Practical experience in schools throughout the programme – 2 days per week in schools plus a series of Professional Practice blocks with emphasis on reflective practice
- Mentoring by experienced professional partner schools
- Research exercise to improve critical and reflective thinking and learning in the candidates’ major learning area

Typical Entry Requirements
- A good honours Degree (at least second class lower) or equivalent from a recognized university
- For the Secondary and Vocational and Technical Education specialist stream, applicants’ undergraduate studies must be relevant to the choice of subject specialization(s)
- Evidence of English proficiency at the level of at least an IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 550 or a credit in the GCE ‘O’ Level English Language. An applicant who has completed his/her bachelor’s degree programme in English medium will be considered to have satisfied this requirement
- Successful performance in an interview and any test required
