Program Educational Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with the concentration in Management Information Systems prepares students in both theoretical and applied aspects of managing management information systems in organizations as generalists or as specialists. This program provides students with a thorough understanding of the science of translating business needs into concrete systems requirements for IT. The course work is designed to complement graduates’ managerial skills with solid foundation in computer systems. In addition, it provides managerial perspectives on the nature and uses of computer systems. The program prepares students for graduate studies, for example, Master of Business Administration “MBA” Degree, as well as careers in project management, database technologies, IT infrastructure, consulting, Audit and compliance.

Student Learning Goals
  • Achieve depth of understanding and application of essential content in management information systems
    • To understand the role of MIS in organizations
    • To gain experience in using technology to improve business process and information security
    • To be able to design and develop databases for specific business requirements
    • To be able to use IT tools to generate business intelligence and understand how it can be used for better managerial decision making
    • To understand e-commerce and e-business concepts
    • To be familiar with the processes related to IT project management
  • Develop competency to develop, measure, analyze, validate and communicate business information
  • Develop analytical and quantitative skills to analyze and formulate business decisions
  • Familiarize with local and global business methods
  • Develop an awareness and knowledge of the role of ethics in the MIS profession and in MIS business practices
  • To acquire professional experience working in a MIS role
  • Develop effective written and oral communication skills
  • Develop the leadership and teamwork skills to function effectively in a diverse cross-functional environment
  • Develop awareness of global issues relating to business decisions
Career Opportunities

A Graduate may pursue a career in areas such as System Analysis, System Design, System Implementation, System Administration, and System Development. Graduates of such program can work as well in the areas of Sales and Marketing in many companies that sell the computer systems. He/She will be qualified to work in wide array of industries.
