Expand your knowledge and experience in the field of childcare. Those who already have basic ECE training can advance their career by taking additional part-time courses to expand their expertise. The Early Childhood Education Post Basic program is a certificate that focuses on infant/toddler and special needs training. Students can choose to become certified in both or just one of the fields. To obtain both licenses, students will participate in nine courses and two practica. One specialization requires seven courses and one practicum. Courses feature advanced child growth and development; family and community interaction; working with infants and toddlers; administration duties for child care centres and advanced health safety and nutrition. After completing this program, students will receive a license to practice as a Special Needs Educator and/or license to practice as an Infant/Toddler Educator.
