The Doctoral School of Physics covers the fields that are the subjects of research in the Institute of Physics. There is a strong collaboration between the doctoral school and three institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences: Institute for Solid State Physics, Institute for Technical Physics and Material Science, and the KFKI Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics, as well as several international scientific collaborators and local industrial partners.
Admission: The applicant must hold a Master's degree (MA, MSc) in a relevant field and has to take an oral interview.
Application procedure: Applicants are required to fill in the application form that can be obtained from the Secretary of the Doctoral School and also from our website. Students need to attach the following documents as well:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Official copies of (Degree ) Certificate plus certified translation in English
- Transcript of records in English
- Two letters of recommendation
- List of Publications (if any)
Programme structure:
The PhD School has four programmes:
- Quantum Optics
- Nonlinear Optics
- Laser physics, Industrial Laser Applications
- Nuclear and Particle Physics

Graduation Requirements: Students have to collect 180 credits by taking regular courses, teaching and research activity. They have to publish two papers in accepted international journals (with impact factor). They have to pass the Doctoral Examination, prepare the PhD Dissertation and defend it.
