Gerontology is the study of the process of human aging in all its aspects, such as the physical, psychological, and social. Because of the tremendous growth in the older adult population in many industrialised countries, there are a wide range of employment opportunities for students graduating with a degree in Gerontology.
With a Masters in Gerontology at Brenau University you will typically have received a solid grounding beginning with an introduction to gerontology. Further study will have introduced you to physical changes and aging, the socio-cultural aspects of aging, research methods in gerontology and the psychology of aging.
masters students: You will have engaged in advanced research in such areas as Statistical Methods in Aging Research, Directed Research in Gerontology, Understanding Policy and Practice in the Long-term, Social Policy and Planning for Gerontologists, Topics in Psychopathology and Aging, Gerontological Counseling Theory and Practice and Family Care in Aging and Chronic Illness.
