Studying Classics means studying ancient literature in its original language. You acquire skills that are transferable to many situations in life and employment, allowing you an understanding of some of the most outstanding and complex works written in any language.
With a Masters in Classics at University of Illinois you will have developed your knowledge of classical culture and trained in the methods, techniques and approaches necessary for the critical study of Greek and Roman literature, history and culture, based on extensive reading of classical texts.
masters students: You will typically be prepared for an academic career in Classics and its associated fields. You will have engaged in rigorous training in the fundamentals of classical scholarship with a view to both teaching and research. You will have developed both a broad understanding of classical languages and culture, and special expertise in diverse areas of classical studies.
