The Early Childhood Education - Advanced diploma program at CDI College provides professional certification for students who are interested in an advanced career in child care services. By combining both a theoretical and practical approach to learning, CDI College meets the instructional and practicum hours as set by the Alberta Family and Social Services, Daycare Staff Qualifications Branch. Not only are graduates qualified for positions in daycares and other child care service centres, but they can also apply for jobs in the capacity of Daycare Director. Students enrolled in this program must have a pre-requisite of Early Childhood Level II certification and must undergo an interview process. Once accepted into the program, students follow a study schedule focusing on several different course categories. Course subjects include lesson planning in the areas of child development with challenged children, physical education, math and science, drama, music and art. Students also study family systems, team building, and are introduced to daycare management and administration. Finally, in order to graduate from this program, students must complete a professional process portfolio.
